In the past, I have rated Cahoon Family Dental as 5 stars, and would highly recommend them. The quality of dental care is great, the staff very friendly, and I have been going here for a number of years. This was the first time that I received a lecture from the dental hygienist for the first five minutes or so of my teeth cleaning about needing to get off of my medications prescribed by my primary care physician. It was uncomfortable and I am not inclined to update my record in the future when asked about medications I am taking.

Going to the dentist is stressful. This review would have been a 5 if the Dentist would take the time to make his patients feel at ease instead of what additional services he could offer. Overall, I would still definitely recommend this office.

I suffer from anxiety and sure the least favorable patient one could wish for. I visited Cahoon Family Dental for my initial appointment earlier this week. Staff did everything in their power to let me know they understood and to alleviate my stress. Each member felt like family but yet totally professional. At 65 years old, I would without the least hesitation, state that Cahoon Family Dental is the finest dental practice I have ever experienced and example of what all dental practices should be. My cleanings are always excellent and gentle. I had to reschedule my appointment and the soonest I could reschedule was 2 months out. I find rescheduling difficult with regards to available appointments close to original appointment time. I rescheduled weeks before my original appointment time. I also find the 48 hour cancelation notice or a $$ charge a bit disrespectful of clients emergencies. I feel a 24 hr notice is more than enough for a cancelation.

This doctor had my comfort and best interest in mind. The woman who did my cleaning was phenomenal. I have to admit, I get acupuncture weekly but I was terrified of getting a filling! Dr Cahoon was gental and was not needle happy in my gums (which is what I expected). The method he used for numbing was non-invasive. I was referred there by my best friend who highly recommended him. Though it is a drive for me coming from Fredericksburg, I will continue with this office.
Cahoon Family Dental is wonderful! Even as a student attending college in another state, I still make sure to schedule my dental appointments during breaks when I come home, just so that I can go to Cahoon. I've been going to Cahoon family dental for years. Honestly, it's one of the best dental experiences I've ever had. Not only is the staff amazing, the office is clean and up to date. I have never had a hygienist take the time to clean my teeth the way that the one at Dr. Cahoon's office does. Dr. Cahoon is also a great Doctor and makes sure that you are comfortable. Having any kind of procedure done at the office is fast. If your appointment is at a specific time, you're more than likely going to be going back to the exam room at the time, which is refreshing for any doctor's office. I am sad that my new employer provided insurance with Humana is not part of their network. I really do wish the office would look into adding Humana as an insurance partner as I really can't imagine going anywhere else. Cahoon Family Dental sets the bar for dental offices everywhere. I would like to send out my best wishes and truest appreciation to all of the staff.

He's personable and honest (he never tries to "upsell" procedures, recommending things that need to be done when they don't!). The rest of the office staff as well as the office itself is bright and cheery. I've moved an hour from the area but will make the commute and continue to be a patient here.

As always the visit was very good. Going to the dentist is not my favorite thing, but I have always felt pretty comfortable going to Cahoon family Dental. I would have given 5 stars but I was told that I would get an estimate for some follow up treatment and I have yet to get it. Because I do not like to have dental work done, I was apprehensive about having dental work on a bad tooth and a crown made for it. I felt no pain. I found the initial visit very good. You took the time to thoroughly exam my teeth and talk to me as a person. I also like the short wait time that I had to wait. In my previous location, they always made me wait at least an additional 20 to 30 minutes beyond my scheduled time. Thank you for being so prompt and on time.

Dr. Cahoon and his team are truly amazing! For years I have wanted to find a office like this. Dr. Cahoon is gentle, he is effective, and efficient. My daughter needed a cavity filled, he did it with no problems or complications. I was amazed because she's 5, I thought seeing that needle would just freak her out, but the way Dr. Cahoon explained everything to her, made the process go smoothly. Overall I would recommend this office to anyone who likes a knowledgeable, caring, and efficient dental office. Staff is always polite and really help make the Dentists transition from patient to patient outstanding. Thumbs up!

I had a cavity for over a year that finally got too weak. They were very matter of fact and non judgemental. And they took care of me that day. They even took extra precautions as I am pregnant and have super sensitivity to smells and I have a horrible gag reflex. Even the billing specialist took time to really review my history and recommend treatment and inform me of my cost prior to service. I am so grateful to have Dr. Cahoon as my family dentist. There was no pain. I just don't like the sound of the drill. I highly recommend him to all my friends and neighbors.

We love Dr. Cahoon, but the front office manager Sarah is not very understanding when patient have other medical issues and need to cancel!! For that reason, the practice has just lost the business of a family of 5 over a $50.00 fee.
From the moment I enter the office, I am reassured - I've always been petrified of going to the dentist - at Cahoon, I feel welcomed and comforted. I've had some major work done and it was totally painless. I'm so scared that, prior to Cahoon, even a cleaning made me apprehensive - no more. The reception staff is amazing; the hygienist, Rhonda, is so comforting and thorough - then, to have Dr. Cahoon enter, it just completes the entire process in the most positive way. I recommend the office wholeheartedly - you will not regret it!

The dentist was the second out of a long line of dentist to numb my moth sufficiently. Felt like I am going to glow in the dark after so many xrays. I do wish the dentist had explained more about the cavities that I had. He did not show me on my xrays. I did not understand that two of my fillings were leaking. Never heard that terminology before. It is too far to go here.Way out in the country. When I had called for the appointment they really could not give me the directions and it was not on their website. Thank goodness I had onstar. I don't want to see my bill after insurance.

To boot, my bite was put back to its original without having to beg the dentist to change it back.... I LOATHE going to the dentist, which is why I didn't go for about 7-8 years until I went to your practice. Bad fillings, lack of anasthesia while drilling, poor cleanings...but now that has changed. I have recommended your practice to all my friends....the last good dentist I had was 30 years ago when I was a kid...and he has since long passed on. Now I have finally found one to take his place :)

I was able to get an appointment for a cleaning in a reasonable amount of time and the hygienist who cleaned my teeth was friendly and kept me informed of what she was doing as she went. I went back 1 week later for a crown but after Dr Cahoon started the procedure he discovered that I only needed a filing instead. He was pleasant, knowledgeable & used state of the art equipment. The location is also a plus. My only suggestion would be to offer TV or some other distraction, especially for children. My husband and I have found our new dentist!

Are these review real on here? We went twice when we first moved here and had to wait both times. One time, over 30 minutes. The reason for the low stars is the dentist had no idea I had a cracked tooth. He was clueless. I was in pain like you couldn't believe and he had no idea what was wrong. Said maybe I needed a root canal. Referred me to a specialist, but they couldn't get me in for 4 weeks - really 4 weeks of pain. After 2 weeks of not being able to deal with the pain, I went to Garrisonville Dental where they figured out the problem that day and solved the problem that day. I didn't need a root canal, it was a cracked tooth. Never went back again. I want a dentist who can diagnose and treat problems, not make me wait in pain for weeks.

Upon coming to your office, I hadn't been to the dentist in three years. I had a horrible experience at my previous dentist: I was overcharged, he was overzealous in that he did a bunch of fillings that I did not need, and he wasn't friendly. With that being said, I avoided the dentist like the plague - and was very nervous once I finally made my appointment to come to your office. I will tell you, my experience was painless. The staff was nice, patient, and explained everything. I thoroughly appreciate how conservative they are and how they have faith in our teeth - and don't feel the need to give you twenty fillings just so they can bill our insurance for it. Competent and engaging and completely understanding. I cannot recommend this office enough.

Review for Joshua Cahoon The three most pleasant Dental experiences of my entire life occurred in 2014. All my previous ones were laden with pain and fear. Two of those most pleasant experiences are directly attributable to the Cahoon Family Dentistry. The first Cahoon experience. August 2014, began with my only cleaning in years, which was performed by Ms. Rhonda. Ms. Rhonda is the consummate Dental Technician. She is the complete package, professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. She immediately assuaged my fears and gained my confidence immediately during the Cleaning Appointment. She performed the initial assessment of overall Dental Health and provided a comprehensive report to Dr. Cahoon. I left that appointment with no pain and no fear. The second of three most pleasant experiences, October 2014, was the Filling Procedure performed by Dr. Cahoon. That experience began by Ms. Rhonda preparing me for Dr. Cahoon’s work. When Dr. Cahoon came to perform the filling, I was completely relaxed. Ms. Rhonda has mastered the technique of making the patient comfortable. The next most important part of this experience was the technique employed by Dr. Cahoon. This had to be the latest and greatest Filling Technique known to the entire Dental Profession. Dr. Cahoon performed the technique superbly. His performance helps me know what an outstanding Dentist he is, but also why he has an excellent staff. Again, I departed with no pain and no fear.

Review for Joshua Cahoon Your X-ray tech needs to be more gentle when performing X-rays. Have had my teeth x-rayed by techs in the Navy with bad attitudes and have never been hurt like this. I asked for a smaller x-ray holder because I have a bone deformity in the roof of my mouth but she said that was all you had. Perhaps she should be better at her job and more sensitive to the needs of patients. I don't like being hurt over a simple procedure. Root Canal, ok discomfort is the name of the game but during an X-ray? I just don't understand why this had to hurt so much. She kept bumping the X-ray machine against it and it hurt a lot as there is not much tissue on the roof of the mouth.

I had never heard of an overlay but now that I have it I am thrilled that Dr. Cahoon suggested it. Every time I have something done Dr. Cahoon and staff try to make it as painless as possible. We were trying to tell her some things about our dental insurance with which we are extremely versed. A certain member of the office staff needs to listen to patients more than to talk at and over them. A patient might know as much or more about their dental insurance than than the admin person. This is particularly frustrating after going through a very painful procedure. This administrative fault must be corrected. Think about this next time. An apology is in order.

I usually arrive early to my appointments and am always seen early vice having to wait until the time my appointment was scheduled or longer. They provide excellent text and email reminders, which has saved me on more than one occasion as my appointments are usually booked months in advance.

If there are other recommendations for preventing cavities (i.e. brands of mouthwashes, toothbrushes, toothpastes, dental floss), that would be helpful. On a side note, I realized that my cavities might also be due to the dried fruits I eat (since I don't drink juice).

He made the new crown while I waited, so there was no need to return for another appointment to have the crown fitted from an outside lab. After he was finished they just sent him out to me. No instructions or a comment that he did well or did not do well. I have never had my children at a doctor/dentist etc that did not take 2 minutes to tell me how everything went. Even our orthodontist talks to me after every visit for our 14 y/o.

The nurse was very patient with my active and inquisitive toddler; she took the time to talk about tools and let my toddler examine them before she used them. They also had Netflix available for viewing during the appointment; that was a great help. The most difficult point of the appointment was getting my toddler to choose one toy from the treasure box and stop playing with it long enough to get out to the car.

Obviously, this was of tremendous benefit for me to know prior to the appointment that everything would be covered. Dr. Cahoon is very thorough and explains his treatment plan in a very easy to understand manner. I trust him and his staff very much and I am very happy to have found him as our family dentist.

Exceptional service. Dr. Cahoon and Rhonda were great. Very detailed. You would not want to eat anything after Rhonda got done cleaning your teeth because it absolutely feels CLEAN! I wish I can have my teeth cleaned every month.
I've only visited twice, but so far, very good. Feels like a medical practice, not a business (unlike other dental offices in the area). They treat you like a patient, not sales prospect. I had one filling done by Dr Cahoon, and afterward, I could not tell where it was, either by touch or sight. That's the way to do a filling!
Dr Cahoon and his staff were so nice and kept this nervous girl calm through my first filling. I love everyone that works in the office and highly recommend them to everyone looking for a dentist for themselves and their children.

I have spent most of my life being petrified to go to the dentist because of horrible experiences over the years, both as an adult and a child. I didn't know what to expect when I went to Dr. Cahoon's office, but was very pleasantly surprised. The staff is excellent, caring and fun. Dr. Cahoon is extremely good and I had the best dental experience of my life. I would highly recommend his office for any dental services.

I had my first visit yesterday and I couldn't be happier with my choice of dentists! I recently moved from Virginia Beach and I've had the chore of finding all new health care providers. My hygenist was awesome! As she was cleaning my teeth, she gave me tips and advice on how to best keep my teeth and gums healthy. She did this in a very non-judgemental way...which is a very difficult thing to accomplish! The reception staff were fabulous and the dentist was friendly as well. I have already made appointments for my children and my husband will be doing so as well.

We went to Cahoon Family Dental for the first time and loved our experience! The staff are all very friendly. The office is very clean. My husband and I had the same hygienist, Ronda, who was very thorough and gave our teeth the best cleaning we have had in years. Our daughters saw Mary, who was also very thorough. Our experience has been wonderful! Dr. Cahoon's entire staff is professional, friendly, and very helpful! My husband has spent 27 years in the Army, so we have seen numerous dentists (a new one almost every 2 years!) Dr. Cahoon has excellent bed side manners. He is professional, patient, and friendly. Our 6 year old son as had fillings without any problems. My husband and I have had crown work, scheduled cleanings, and fillings. We do not have any complints! I am very happy to have found a great dentist on the first round when we moved here. We highly recommend him!!!

I dread going to the dentist, so it had been a while. A friend recommended Cahoon Family Dental and I decided it was time. I was very, very pleased with my visit. Every effort was made to avoid discomfort for me. Also, every step in the process was explained in advance, so there were no nasty surprises. This was a very positive experience and I will be back.

A broken teeth had to have a root canal , was covered with a layover ( some thing less costly than a real crown ) to result after 6 month in tooth abcess and revision of the whole process again of course to salvage the tooth a root canal was required . On top of this , that lay over cost me 800 dollars , paid in cash because my insurance was drained completely . on top of that the crown was not smoothened and was improperly fixed for my bite and I had to return to him and even after that was still improperly fit . I think his clinic is very nice and high end , but he wants a high turn over and some times does the wrong procedure for too much money !

I am so happy to have found Dr. Cahoon. I hadn't been to a dentist in 3 years because of bad experiences I had had in the past. Dr. Cahoon and his staff put me right at ease. My only regret is that I didn't find Dr. Cahoon sooner. He has my highest recommendation.
Even though I was concerned going in because I had experienced feelings of sensitivity and shooting pain, the hygienist quickly put me to ease and was very good and thorough. Job well done and the pain must have been associated with my earlier sinus infection.

Dr. Cahoon and his staff were awesome. I originally went in for my regular cleaning/check up and ended up getting a cavity filled during that same appointment; they were very accomodating! I also had my 4 year old son with me, who had an appintment at the same time. After he was done, they made sure he was comfortable while he was waiting for me to be done. I can't express how happy I am to finally have found a dentist the entire family loves!
I am not an easy dentist patient, I get anxious and jittery. I've always been meticulous with my mouth and never have a perfect visit so I am not fond of my visits. This was a great filling though! They numbed me by a topical ointment before the shots so I felt nothing! I was never in any pain and they were efficient on watering and capturing all the water and debri. I wasn't choking like at some of my visits. I was confident in Dr Cahoon and loved the tech/assistant! Wonderful experience! Taking my kids for their first cleaning in 2 weeks!
Dr Cahoon is my family dental hero. From my daughter's first visit at age three, to a root canal, Dr Cahoon treats everybody . His staff is very nice and very efficient and just brings a smile to my wife and daughters faces every time they see them.

I took my 7 year old for an initial visit and cleaning. The office is super clean and staff is friendly and wonderful. Office is up to speed with technology and even has monitors for you to watch Netflix's on while you get your dental work done. Scheduled some filling appointments and was seen a week later. Fast turnaround time between appointments. Dr Cahoon did not over charge or quote unnecessary work to be done like my daughters pediatric dentist. My daughter went in yesterday to get two fillings in and the staff made her fell super comfortable and ensured she was informed every step of the way on what the dentist was doing. She told me she did not feel a thing. And Dr. Cahoon did not use gas like many other Dentist try to use. Highly recommend Dr. Cahoon for your children as well as for adults.

Cahoon Family Dental is one of the best dentists in Stafford. My family has had some bad experiences with others and feels like a blessing to finally find one so incredible. The entire staff including Dr. Cahoon is warm and inviting. A great place to take children, I've taken both of mine and it was my youngest first dental visit, they were wonderful. I will continue to go here and I highly recommend it to anyone. Best!!

Experience was wonderful no joking, because I've never said that about going to the dentist! (I mean, who does, right?) Everyone was considerate and caring and above all everything was pain-free! (Including the hit to the wallet, BTW, due to the tooth being in better shape than was expected).

Went here on recommendation of family members and coworkers. I anticipated a 1 hour appointment, but the time spent was closer to two hours, only about 10-15 mins of which was spent with Dr. Cahoon. The hygienist really went to town in my mouth! It was the most thorough cleaning I've ever had, the length of which will definitely provide incentive to improve my flossing habits! Office seems like it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's clean and modern. I've been very impressed with the level of technological savvy demonstrated by the use of e-mail, web, text messaging etc. The sign in the front window has got to go, however. Nobody can see it, even when you are in the parking lot.

Dr. Cahoon was fantastic; he and his staff are very professional and have the newest technology and services available. His chair side manner was very good. He was able to replace a filling that had bothered me for years and did it quickly and easily. This had never been recommended and in fact was told that most dentist don't replace unless it falls out. I was also impressed with the ease and way he worked allowing a less stressful and happier environment. I'm Happy myself and my family has chosen his practice over my previous dentist of 8 years. I was very happy with my last two experiences and will return as needed.

From the first phone call I made I was pleased with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. There was little wait for our visit, and my 2 & 4 year olds LOVED the TVs over the chair! Miss Jennifer was so nice to my girls, explaining all of the tools and talking them through it all. Dr. Cahoon was nice as well. SO relieved - they had a blast! - and now my girls insist on flossing every night :)
I recommend this practice to friends and family all of the time. Dr. Cahoon is great, the staff is wonderful!
I had a wonderful experiense with my three fillings. I have had much more pain from other dentists. I will definitely keep Dr. Cahoon as my regular dentist. Dont forget to ask to use the Netflix when you are waiting!
I went in for a filling with my 2 year old in tow. Not only were we made very welcome since I am pregnant I was difficult to get me numb, very difficult. At no time did I feel like I was inconveniencing the staff. They were all wonderful.

Everything went smooth with the crown but I am a little concerned about what feels like the tooth next to the crown. Either the crown or the tooth next to the crown is extremely sensitive, and I hope that is normal. I also appreciate the dentist calling to see how I was as I was beginning to feel the novacaine wear off.
I recently had 2 cavities filled by Dr. Cahoon's office. My appointment was kept on time, and he worked as quickly but throughly as possible. Watching Netflix on the TV above the chair waiting for my mouth to go numb was an added bonus!

I have never been afraid of the dentist. I had a dentist that I didn't care for very much, and transfered to Cahoon Family Dental. Every time I go in there, I am happier that I made the decision to switch. My kids also like going there. The staff there truly cares about there patients and it shows. I highly recommend them.

Having experience working in the dental field and then having patronized a couple of other dentists in the area I had nearly given up hope of finding a good dentist in Stafford. Dr. Cahoon not only runs a state of the art office, he is conservative and professional and saved me hundreds of dollars on work that was "diagnosed" but didn't need to be done. I even like that staff and that is a HUGE bonus. I definitely recommend Cahoon Family Dental.
My experience was excellent from beginning to the end which is a little surprising for me to say since I am not normally a big fan of going to the dentist. But this was my first visit with Dr. Cahoon and maybe my feeling about going to the dentist will change.

Went for a fitting to get a mouth guard for grinding my teeth. The dentist over heard that I was getting migrains and he came out of his office and said that he would recommend another type of guard. This shows extreme caring for the patient. Also, the ladies are extremely kind and personable!
Due to my work schedule, I was unable to make an appointment with the office for several months. Their staff was unbelievably patient with me and even reached out a couple times to see if there was availability with cancellations. I love going to Dr Cahoon's office. Before going to Dr Cahoon, I would get a minor panic attack when in the dentist's chair. And I will admit, the first time I saw Dr Cahoon, I had my mini-panic attack, but he and his staff made me feel so comfortable, I have been panic-attack free since! Like most, when you come in for your cleaning after having nothing wrong for 6 months or longer (shame on you for not getting a professional cleaning every 6 months), you don't want to hear the dentist tell you that something is wrong. Clearly, if something was wrong, you would know. After all, it's your mouth. But sometimes, things have changed. Well, you don't want a high-pressure sales job to seperate you from your hard earned money. Perhaps, the best approach would be to just receive some expert information about how you can improve your oral hygiene and let the patient decide how to proceed. After all, you are the customer, right? That is what you get with Dr. Cahoon. No pressure, only an expert, professional assessment and some helpful suggestions. Remember, they are just teeth. Ignore them and they'll go away!
Six stars! The two times I have been here have both been outstanding, productive visits. I had three fillings this afternoon and can honestly say that this was the most relaxed dental visit I have ever had. Friendly, professional and very competent, I strongly recommend Cahoon Family Dental to everyone.

This is a state of the art dental office with digital x-rays (minimized radiation exposure). The staff is friendly and understanding of dental anxiety. They pre-verified my insurance so they knew exactly what was or was not covered by my dental insurance. They were polite, thorough and very friendly. If anyone is looking for a new dentist, I highly recommend this one.
Dr. Cahoon, his staff, and the new (clean and state of the art equipment) office make going to the dentist a pleasant experience. Dr. Cahoon is in a convient location, has great office hours, and has a highly professional and courteous staff. I have seen many dentist in the Staffor and Fredericksburg area and none compare to the professionalism, quality care, and pleasant atmosphere of Dr. Cahoon's office.

This dentist is the best! We are military, have lived everywhere, and I have NEVER found a more caring dentist. I had a bad tooth, was in terrible pain, and the girls in the office listened while I whined on the phone, and got me in, and he worked hard to get the work done between patients, not only so I would be out of pain, but so I could make another medical appointment for one of my kids. He was gentle, the girls tried to lift my spirits, and I felt like they really cared. I might add that I did try an emergency dentist that was open on the weekend, and after sitting in their office for 2 hours, was sent away because they had no time to help me, and even laughed at me when I said I would wait, and I know it can't take that long to pull a tooth. Just goes to show "fast food" dental places that are open all the time, are not worth what you have to go through. I will not even try another dentist as long as I live here! My kids even like him, and they have had major bad experiences with dentists in the past. In this crazy world where nobody cares anymore, there is a dentist, and his office team, that does! :) (I know this probably sounds cheesy, but I just can't believe dentists like this still exist!)

I recently moved to the stafford area and received a letter from Cahoon welcoming me and offering their services. I decided to make an appointment for a routine exam. The staff was very friendly and professional. I couldn't have been more pleased with the care provided by Dr. Cahoon. The office is state of the art. The cleaning was pain free! My 8 year old son had to have a tooth pulled and I thought it would be a terrible experience for him. It was not. My son told me it didn't bother him at all. No pain!!

Dr. Cahoon came highly recommended thru a friend and fellow business owner. I was well attended to by his staff, Mary and Jennifer. Dental work is always a little intimadating. Dr. Cahoon will completely put you at ease. He uses the latest and greatest technology to provide an incredibly through exam and then follows up with a conservative treatment plan if needed. Stop delaying and make that long awaited appointment. Which by the way was very easy to arrange and no waiting. Follow-up and reminders are all electronic. Further evidence of a practice that also respects the clients time.

I don't mind going to the dentist, but it is a lot easier to schedule appointments when you have a good experience, even if you require some extra work. Everyone is so personable and really care about you and if you are doing ok. The office is really high-tech, which is a great convenience. You can get a traditional phone call, or do business by email. How many dentist let you do that? Plus, they remind you about your appointments through text messaging!

I really enjoyed the office. Not the drive so much, but the staff was very friendly and pleasant. I have never had a filling fixed so quickly and almost effortlessly. Usually I get shot with novicane 4-6 times before I cannot feel anything, and this time I only had to get one shot! I did get extremely nauseas afterwards, I don't know if it was different stuff than I was used to or what it was. I really appreciated how the dentist took time to talk to me about headaches and that there is an option at the dentist to try and cure them. I am looking more into that. I really liked the office, the staff, and the quickness of the appointment. Its worth the drive :)

Within a two month span, I witnessed Dr. Cahoon volunteering his time (and giving out dental kits) to my child's school AND Boy Scout Den.
